“It’s very fluid and the feeling of not being able to cope comes and goes - it’s just part of me, like having an allergy to being happy all the time. But I constantly feel embarrassed about it. Even now, while I think its important to recognise it and talk about it, at the same time I don’t want to go into any details because I’m conscious that it can be taken out of context and used against me. ”

Bristol Mind – affiliated to National Mind – operates independently, and responds to the needs of the local community. It supports many individuals in their day-to-day life, both practically and emotionally.

About Bristol Mind

www.bristolmind.org.uk
Thank you for taking the time to visit the Fashion in Mind web site. This event aims to raise funds for Bristol Mind to be able to provide information and services in different languages and extend some of our current provision.

Mental and emotional health problems can happen to anyone at any age or from any background, with 1 in 4 people experiencing problems at some point during their life. Most people fully recover from their emotional distress, for others the road of recovery is a long one.

Bristol Mind aims to promote a positive view of mental health and provide services that are accessible, relevant and empowering to the people using them. We are a local resource for all people in Bristol who identify themselves as having mental health or emotional support needs or who want to look after their emotional and mental wellbeing.
Founded in 1965 we are now a registered charity and a limited company. We are affiliated to National Mind though independent of it. We receive no direct funding from National Mind and make our own decisions about the services we offer. So raising our own funds and gaining contracts is key to being able to continue our work.

We currently have 16 staff (full and part-time) and over 100 trained and supported volunteers who work to provide our services with many more members supporting the work we do.
